What Is Air Rib Membrane? — The Load-Bearing Backbone of Flexible Structures
The air rib membrane is the core force-bearing unit of rib-supported air membrane buildings. It is thermally sealed with high-strength composite membrane materials and forms a rigid stable beam after being inflated with low-pressure air. Multiple air rib capsules are combined side by side to build column-free, long-span, fully enclosed or semi-open flexible spaces.
Different from traditional air-supported membranes that rely on continuous fans to maintain internal and external pressure difference, the rib-supported structure maintains its overall shape by the inherent stiffness of air ribs, realizing zero pressure difference inside and outside and no need for all-day inflation, which greatly reduces energy consumption and operating noise.
